Do you dream of swimming surrounded by sea turtles, manta rays and colorful fish on your trip to Panama? 🐠 There's a place where that dream comes true, even if you haven't heard of it yet: Coiba National ParkIn this guide we share what marine life you can find and how to experience it.

🌊 Where to swim with marine life in Panama? Discover Coiba

If you want to swim among sea turtles, rays and reef sharks in Panama, your destination is Coiba National Park a protected Pacific archipelago and UNESCO World Heritage Site, known as «the Galápagos of Panama»Its crystal-clear waters hold extraordinary marine biodiversity, and it's accessed from the village of Santa Catalinain Veraguas. (Learn more in our Coiba Island Guide).)

🐢 Swim with sea turtles

The Sea turtles are one of Coiba's stars. While snorkeling, it's common to see them gliding calmly among the reefs or feeding near the surface. Seeing them up close in their natural habitat — no cages, no crowds — is an unforgettable experience. 🐢

🐠 Manta rays and reef fish

The Manta rays glide elegantly through the water as if flying. Alongside them, schools of parrotfish, angelfish, silvery jacks and hundreds of colorful species turn every snorkeling stop into a true natural aquarium. 🐠

🦈 Reef sharks (safely and respectfully)

es, in Coiba you can also see white-tip reef sharks while snorkeling. They are harmless to people:they usually rest on the seabed or patrol the reefs calmly. This isn't "swimming with sharks" like in the movies — it's about observing them respectfully in their natural home, always with your guide. A privilege for ocean lovers. 🦈

🐋 And in season… much more

epending on the time of year, Coiba adds unique shows: humpback whales (Jul–Oct) and whale sharks (Dec–Mar) — the largest fish in the world, and completely harmless. Plus dolphins on the way to the park. 🐬

🐣 Is it safe? Do I need experience?

It's beginner-friendly: and safe: we provide snorkeling gear and a life jacket, and an expert guide is with you the whole time. No prior experience needed — just the desire to explore the underwater world. 🤿

🌱 Responsible snorkeling

Conservation is a priority in Coiba: some spots like Granito de Oro are closed to protect their reefs. At Unlimited Adventures Coiba we practice responsible snorkeling, keeping our distance from the animals and following park rules to protect this paradise. 🌱
